Where To Find Rare Items On Minecraft
Some Minecraft items can be pretty tough to find, but we are here to help you find the hardest things to find in Minecraft.
Pink Sheep
You are probably used to seeing white, grey, brown and black sheep – but did you know it is possible for them to spawn pink as well? It is extremely rare, though! Look at it this way. If you spawned 1,000 sheep, around 820 of them would be white, you would get 50 black, 50 grey and 50 light grey, a further 29 of them would be brown and only one of them would be pink!
Only 50 of those 1,000 sheep would be babies, so the rarest sheep – a baby pink sheep – has a change of appearing just once even if more than 12,000 spawn!
Elytra
Also found only in End ships, the elytra is a super-rare item, worn as a piece of chest armour, that gives you the ability to glide. In fact, if you combine it with firework rockets, you can even fly!
The elytra is found in the hold on End ships, which spawn in some End cities in the End. You will have to do a lot of exploring to get one, but it is worth it.
Woodland Mansions
Perhaps the rarest structure – and certainly one of the hardest to find – woodland mansions can spawn only in dark forest biomes, but because of their rarity they usually spawn thousands of blocks away from this spawn point.
This means that to find one you don’t just have to find the right biome, you have to hike thousands of blocks away from your normal hunting grounds to look for it. When you do, head inside and kill the evoker to get your hands on one of the game’s rarest items – a totem of undying.
Dragon Egg
Most blocks occur lots of times, even if they are hard to find, but the dragon’s egg appears literally once in the entire game. The first time you kill the dragon, it appears on top of the End portal. If you try to collect the block it teleports onto End stone you can place a torch two blocks beneath it, break the block between the egg and the torch, and watch as gravity makes it fall onto the torch and pop as a collectible item. It is only good as a trophy, but what a trophy to have!
Wither Roses
This ultra-rare flower only appears when a mob is killed by the wither. Standing too close to it will inflict the Wither effect. Wither roses can be planted in the same places as normally flowers, but also on Netherrack, soul sand and soul soil.
Fossils
These bone remnants of ancient animals are incredibly hard to find because they only generate underground, and only near the surface of desert and swampland biomes, which are themselves pretty hard to explore because of the sand and water that can fall down.
In version 1.17, they will become more common, with more frequent generation and possibly no biome restriction – but even then, it will take a while to find them.
